Wallingford Town Hall

Built in 1670 to replace the medieval Guild Hall, Wallingford Town Hall is grade 1 listed. Throughout the centuries the Town hall has had numerous uses ranging from the town lock up and debtor’s prison, to the borough courtroom and to hosting royalty such as Queen Elizabeth II who appeared on the Town Hall balcony during her visit in 1956.

Wallingford Town Hall now welcomes visitors and is the perfect venue for weddings, civil ceremonies, conferences, meetings and private functions.

Rich in history, our decadent rooms in the Town Hall have high ceilings and original features and is bathed in natural light from its grand windows.

Main Chamber and Committee Room

With views over the historic Market Place the Main Chamber creates a beautiful backdrop for events. Our Committee Room can accommodate up to 20 guests and our Main Chamber can comfortably accommodate up to 60 guests for a wide range of functions, including weddings and civil ceremonies, naming ceremonies, private parties, wakes and conferences.

The Town Hall is a truly historic venue and retains many original features offering a unique feel and atmosphere for your event. The walls are adorned with portraits and commemorative boards which list all of the Mayor’s of Wallingford since 1231 to the present day. The Committee room displays artifacts of Wallingford’s impressive history, including the Town Mace which dates back to 1650 and is said to have been copied for the mace of the House of Commons.
