The Annual Meeting (Mayor Making)

The Annual Meeting, also known as Mayor Making, always takes place in May and marks the beginning of the new municipal year and the new council year. Town Council business is discussed and membership of Council Committees is determined.

The Mayor for the new year is elected as well as the Deputy Mayor. The new Mayor of Wallingford will give a speech on their aims, visions and ambitions of their new role and the coming year.

Traditionally the Loving Cup Ceremony takes place at the end of the formal agenda business and a red rose is given to each of the Councillor’s.
