In May 2015 South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) approved the ‘Wallingford Neighbourhood Area’ allowing Wallingford Town Council to begin the process of producing a neighbourhood plan.  Wallingford Town Council is the qualifying body for the preparation of the Wallingford Neighbourhood Plan (WNP) and set up the WNP Steering Group to lead the process.  The Town Council has appointed planning consultants Nexus Planning to advise with the process and also employs a part-time project manager to help deliver the plan.

The Wallingford Neighbourhood Plan (WNP) Steering Group is leading the preparation of the WNP.  The Steering Group members include Town Councillors and volunteers from the local community.

In March 2016 Wallingford residents and businesses were invited to a public consultation event about the Wallingford Neighbourhood Plan.  The event generated a lot of interest and was well attended.  All attendees were invited to sign up to volunteer to join the themed Working Groups to help deliver the Wallingford Neighbourhood Plan.
