Ever wondered what really happens in an artist’s studio?
Oxfordshire Artweeks is a great time to find out! You’ll find everything from paintings and pottery to installation and intrigue at Ayres House Studios this May. The studios have had many new members join since last year. Artist and illustrator Hannah McCague, Rachel Ashman-textiles and print, Bob Pickford-pottery and Jackie Pearce- conceptual art and art therapy. So there is even more to be seen this year during Artweeks. In total 15 of our professional artists and makers will be working from their studios at Ayres House.
Studio disciplines range from ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpture, video, sound, installation, mosaics, photography, print, textiles, upholstery, conservation and writing. So who knows what works you might witness being created on your visit! There is also a free ‘drop in’ clay activity suitable for everybody.
It’s great to hear the positive responses we’ve had from the public over the last year. Reviews have called us ‘a hidden gem’ and ‘surprising’, as in our 3rd year many local people have still yet to discover us tucked away on Ayres Yard. Last years Artweeks really helped raise awareness of the local talent and creative services available at the studios, and we hope that this year does the same.
This Open Studios event is part of the Wallingford Art Trail. Keep an eye out for posters, guides and maps to see more local talent in and around Wallingford! See the printable map to see all the local venues and visit www.artweeks.org to see exhibitors throughout the county.
