Heritage Workshops with an Art Twist

Artist to Collaborate with the Community on Information Boards

We are excited to announce that the talented artist Kremena Dimitrova will be reviving some existing information boards around Wallingford. This project will increase awareness of Wallingford’s rich heritage and excite a range of ages, including children with a specially designed leaflet.

Kremena Dimitrova is a London based illustrator-as-historian and storyteller. She specialises in children’s illustration, comics, murals, public art installations, mapmaking/trails, and visual storytelling in the cultural, heritage, and education sectors. She often works with archives and collections and uses a mixture of creative approaches, such as character development, humour, rhymes, words, and images, to bring narratives to life.

An important part of her process is to co-collaborate with the community. Artwork produced from community workshops will be used to produce digital collages about our heritage in Wallingford. These information boards will be designed in collaboration with community groups such as Waterside Court Care Home and Wallingford School.

Kremena will be hosting multiple community workshops from the 13th to 15th July and groups have already been invited to take part.

The following workshops are open to the public:

Friday 14th July, 3pm – 5pm in Bean & Brew. Booking is recommended as space is limited, please contact tourism@wallingfordtowncouncil.gov.uk

Saturday 15th July – 2pm – 5pm in the Town Centre. Drop in session open to everyone and part of Wallingford’s Celebration of the Curfew Bell event.

The historical information on the boards will be written in collaboration with Wallingford Museum. The boards are due to be installed on the 25th August.
