You may have already noticed that we have gone slightly wild this year.
By listening to public feedback, we have designated more of our area’s to wild flora.
We have stopped using chemicals to suppress pests and weeds and taken on the more labour intensive hand weeding option to help preserve our precious wildlife that is in decline.
The old rose garden in the Castle Garden’s has been replaced with bee friendly hardy annuals that we purposely chose last year for our town summer displays. At the end of the season we lifted and transplanted them into the rose garden, enabling us to plant this area for free. This season and beyond we will continue to incorporate plants into our summer bedding displays that can be reused to develop this area further, year on year.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and we welcome your feedback.
We are a small unit that covers a lot of green spaces in the town, which includes these Castle gardens.
Be kind to yourselves, our gardens and our wildlife.
Please remember this is their home and we are all their guests Thank you once again for visiting the Castle gardens.
