Permanent Vacancy: Parks & Estates Warden

 

  • 15 hrs/wk part-time (Monday to Friday)
  • £12.28 per hour

 

Wallingford Town Council are looking to recruit a permanent part-time Parks & Estates Warden.

They will work 15 hours each week Monday to Friday.

This post will comprise the following duties and hours:

  • Litter Picking Monday – Friday, Castle Gardens, Kine Croft and Bull Croft – 10 hours
  • Evening locking of Castle Gardens (1 April to 31 October, 7pm) – 5 hours
  • Assisting the parks team (1 November to 31 March) – 5 hours

The post holder will work flexibly as a valuable member of the Parks and Estates team with a focus on care of Town Council property and estates. They will help with the upkeep of the town’s open spaces, and have responsibility for locking up the Castle Gardens and litter picking in our parks and open spaces.

Head of Parks and Estates

Full-Time Position SCP 27, £35,745

Wallingford Town Council is seeking a dynamic, skilled, and forward-thinking Head of Parks and Estates for a full-time role. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in managing parks, gardens, allotments, and historic buildings, along with a strong background in heritage management. Essential skills include financial acumen, project management proficiency, and effective supervisory capabilities.

The Town Council are custodians of a distinctive estate, including three heritage parks, scheduled monuments, various commercial and residential properties managed by a property company, and a renowned 17th-century town hall.

The Head of Parks and Estates will be responsible for overseeing and managing this portfolio on behalf of the Council. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with town and country planning, listed building, and heritage legislation. Additionally, the role involves project managing a range of remedial work requirements and health and safety regulations to support financial and project planning.

This position is an integral part of our busy Town Council team, reporting directly to the Town Clerk. The successful candidate should have a flexible approach, being able to work remotely, in the office, and on-site as needed.
